NPT Homes and Mi-space install 5000th kitchen in Port Talbot
5,000 households across the Neath Port Talbot Borough are now cooking in style after receiving new kitchens as part of NPT Homes' Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) improvement programme.
Mrs Louise Morgan from Cymmer, Port Talbot recently had the 5,000th new kitchen installed at her property by NPT Homes' contractor, Mi-Space. Mrs Morgan also benefitted from a new bathroom as part of the six year programme to bring properties up to the WHQS.
Like all tenants who have benefited to date, Mrs Morgan was given a choice of tiles, cupboards, work surfaces and flooring. This is part of the organisation's commitment to give everyone options to choose from for their WHQS improvements.
As part of the installation process, each tenant is assigned a Tenant Liaison Officer (TLO) from NPT Homes. The TLOs are on hand to guide tenants through the process and answer any questions they may have.
Mrs Morgan said: "We are so happy with the improvements we have had in our home. Our TLO, Caroline, helped to make sure that the process was smooth and trouble free.
Everyone who visits says how nice my new kitchen and bathroom looks and we are now thinking of redecorating other rooms in our house."
Since the WHQS programme began, over £75m has been invested in the local community. As well as reaching the 5,000th kitchen, this has included 4,383 new bathrooms, 2,969 rewires and 3,970 new heating systems being fitted as part of the improvement programme. NPT Homes has also carried out 1,053 roof replacements and 1,717 window and door installations. NPT Homes also recently started the external works element of its WHQS programme and has so far completed 153 renders and 757 external wall insulations.
