John Lewis opens in Exeter
The new Exeter city centre John Lewis store, refurbished by Midas Interiors and fitted out by Midas Retail, is predicted to inject millions into the local economy and attract new inward investment from further quality retailers.
The project, which began as an £8.5 million contract to refurbish 65,000 sq ft over five floors of the 1960s style former Debenhams building converting it into a John Lewis "At Home" store was upgraded when it was decided to expand the plans and deliver the new, "flexible format" outlet. This offers the same range of departments as in a full-sized store, supported with an online retail range available to collect from its counters.
The new plans required considerable further investment in the project with the shell & core works undertaken for Land Securities by Midas Interiors and the retail fit out work for John Lewis by Midas Retail having a total contract value of £25 million.
Midas Group has made a major contribution to Exeter's built environment in recent years with major projects in the Education, commercial and retail sectors.
