New environmentally positive building for Plymouth manufacturer
One of the largest arrays of rooftop photovoltaic tiles in the region has been installed on a Plymouth commercial property due for completion in August.
694 PV panels of 1.31 sq m each have been installed on the environmentally positive new building for Pennycross based HellermannTyton by contractors Midas Construction.
The PV array will be capable of generating 125KWP for the 4460 sq m (48,000 sq ft) building which will house HellermannTyton's Production facility, Offices and Research & Development space.
The building on Plymouth International Medical and Technology Park, Derriford, also has rain water harvesting, air source heat pumps, permeable paving and sustainable drainage as part of its green credentials
Commenting on the environmental assessment scheme for building Midas Construction's Senior Project Manager Jason Willicombe, said: "We are targeting a BREEAM Very Good status for the office section of HellermannTyton's building and BREEAM Excellent for the production area, with an overall target of Very Good.
HellermannTyton is one of the leading suppliers of products for fastening, fixing, identifying and protecting cables and their connecting components.
