Midas wins place on new £5 billion SCF Residential Framework

Midas Construction has been appointed to a new £5.16 billion Residential Delivery & Development Framework set up by long-term partner organisation Southern Construction Framework (SCF).

Midas’s place on SCF Residential, for housing schemes between 10 and 75 homes, is in addition to its current role on the Southern Construction Framework, through which it has carried out 36 projects covering a variety of sectors and with a total value of more than £190 million.

Southern Construction Framework (SCF) is a leading construction procurement framework delivered by the public sector for the public sector in the South of England. It connects customers with the best contractors in the region, streamlining planning and procurement and bringing added value through early contractor involvement.

The new SCF Residential framework is a four-year framework available to all public bodies in the South East, London and the South West. It gives them access to market leading tier one and SME housebuilders and has been designed to be flexible and responsive to industry pressures, including carbon, modern methods of construction (MMC) and the ongoing housing crisis.

Midas Construction was successful in Lot 1 - Residential Delivery - Construct or design and construct 10 to 75 dwellings, covering three key sub regions:

  • Cornwall, Devon & Somerset
  • Bristol & Gloucestershire
  • Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Dorset & Berkshire

It is the latest in a wide range of prestigious frameworks on which Midas has won a place, spanning a range of sectors including education, residential, retail and defence.

Alan Hope, Chief Executive of the Midas Group, said: “We are delighted to be part of this exciting new SCF Residential framework and to be continuing our long and successful partnership with SCF.

“The collaborative approach which frameworks like SCF encourage aligns with our vision at Midas of industry leading customer service and performance, based on long-term positive relationships with our customers.

“Frameworks are an important part of our strategy, with more than 80 per cent of the Group’s work being on a repeat business basis, and projects delivered through frameworks accounting for an increasingly significant proportion of this.”

Midas’s appointment to the SCF Residential Framework builds on its strong partnership and proven track record of success with SCF, which dates right back to the framework’s first inception as Construction Framework South West (CFSW) in 2009, and in securing a place on each subsequent framework renewal to date, most recently in 2019.

Midas won the framework’s Innovation Award in 2017, the Framework Manager of the Year Award in 2018 and earlier this year was part of the project team named Integrated Team of the Year in the SCF Awards 2021, in recognition of their achievements delivering the stunning new £6.6 million Ada Lovelace Building, at Exeter Science Park.
