Popular School Set to Welcome More Pupils thanks to Mi-space
A Somerset school will double in size after Mi-space completes an extensive programme of works.
When the development is finished, Willowdown Primary Academy in Bridgwater will increase its capacity from 210 to 420 children, boasting an additional seven classrooms as well as offering further nursery school places.
Mi-space, part of the Midas Group, one of the UK’s largest independent construction and property services providers, has begun work at Willowdown Primary Academy and aims to complete the development next summer.
Steve Hart, Director for Mi-space, said: “Willowdown Primary Academy is in a popular neighbourhood for families and we are pleased to be able to support the school as it expands its offering to the local community.”
“This development continues our strong track record for delivering high quality educational developments across the South West.”
Willowdown opened in September 2014, with demand for school places increasing as more housing developments are created across the Bridgwater area.
Ro Roberts, Headteacher of Willowdown Primary Academy, said: “The school community of Willowdown and the Clevedon Learning Trust welcomes the exciting expansion of our school at a time when demand is high for places with the growing development of Kingsdown and the surrounding area.
“The school has improved significantly over the past 18 months and we offer a safe, vibrant environment and inspirational curriculum with high aspirations for all our learners. With the expansion of our school we will be better equipped to serve our growing community with modern facilities and up-to-date IT to prepare children for modern life. This is such a pivotal moment for Willowdown and we can’t wait to open our phase two expansion in September 2020.”
