Welsh rugby heroes come together in aid of prostate cancer
Four Grand Slam-winning heroes from the all-conquering 2019 Welsh rugby team will be guests of honour at a charity dinner, hosted by The Events Room, in partnership with Midas Group.
The 2019 Six Nations Grand Slam Celebration Dinner will be held on 2nd May at Cardiff’s Raddison Blu Hotel in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
It will be a chance to relive the excitement of Wales’s Six Nations triumph, raise cash for charity and hear first-hand from players Hadleigh Parkes, Justin Tipuric, Gareth Anscombe and Josh Adams in a series of question and answer sessions.
The event includes a two-course dinner, raffle and auction, with all money raised to be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.
It’s part of a broader fundraising initiative in support of the charity, spearheaded by Mi-space, Midas Group’s housing division.
Later this year, employees from Mi-space will be joined by representatives from Exeter City Football Club and other partners when they tackle, for the second year in a row, the Football to Amsterdam challenge – a two-day, 145-mile bike ride from London to the Dutch capital in June.
Team Mi-space raised £14,300 for Prostate Cancer UK last year and for 2019 have set themselves the huge fundraising target of £50,000 - and they are well on their way to achieving that goal.
The Events Room, based in Newbridge, previously supported Team Mi-space by donating several items of signed sporting memorabilia for auction.
Matt Jones, Managing Director of The Events Room, said: “I had attended one or two of Mi-space’s fundraising events and was impressed at the passion and enthusiasm that the team showed for the charity. After Wales won the Grand Slam, I realised that The Events Room could make our own contribution by working with the team to host an event with several of Wales’ players.”
AJ Eaton, Divisional Director of Mi-space and team captain, said: “Last year’s ride was a great success and our cyclists got an enormous amount of enjoyment and inspiration from the event. Meeting other cyclists from all over the UK and hearing their stories and reasons for undertaking the challenge left everyone with a reinforced sense of purpose to set ourselves a much higher target this year; and to continue supporting Prostate Cancer UK in their efforts to overcome this condition which impacts the lives of so many men.”
