Midas Group Awarded Industry BIM Accreditation

One of the UK’s most successful independent construction companies is celebrating receiving industry-recognised accreditation for using digital technologies to enable more efficient methods of design, construction and operation.

The Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 accreditation by Lloyd’s Register (LR), delivered in cooperation with its industry partner Excitech, certifies organisations involved throughout the design and construction process as 'BIM Ready'.

Midas was successful in achieving BIM accreditation for ‘Project Delivery Provider (Business Systems) – Tier 1 (Project Provider)’which includes full compliance with PAS91:2013, PAS1192-2:2013, PAS1192-3:2014, PAS1192-5:2015, BS8536-1:2015, BS8536-2:2016 and all published sections of BS1192.

A surveillance programme with LR will now be established to ensure that standards, processes and competencies against the accreditation will be maintained throughout the three year accreditation period, something Midas has been keen to embrace.

Alan Hope, Chief Executive of Midas Group, said: “Midas is delighted to have been awarded the BIM Level 2 accreditation. The BIM scheme improves the service we can offer to our customers and gives an independent public statement of compliance to industry standards.”

“Showing that we are achieving best practice principles across our range of construction sectors, this accreditation reinforces the Midas vision to be leaders in customer service and performance.”

As part of the accreditation process, Midas BIM Management systems were fully reviewed for conformity to the scheme requirements and included other areas of the business for example HR, training and competency, procurement, subcontracting and risk management.

Michelle Cochran, Head of BIM for Midas Group, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Midas and is testament to our commitment in utilising BIM and digital technologies across the business, alongside our commitment to best practice and fully embedding BIM standards within our organisation.”

According to LR, the wider industry recognises that the BIM process makes not only the design and construction phases of projects more efficient but also provides huge benefits during the operational phase of a building.

Karl Miller, Utilities and Construction Schemes Manager for LR, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Midas. Their assessment showed that their business systems were mature and well developed and that they really understood how to integrate BIM within their current systems.”

Midas is one of the UK's largest independent construction and property services providers delivering projects for customers across a range of sectors including; retail education, residential and commercial developments, and has offices throughout the South West, South East, Midlands and Wales.

The company’s strategy is to be the contractor of choice in the areas in which it operates, through development of long-term relationships via delivery of its vision to be ‘leaders in customer service and performance’. It is a strategy which is already showing success with more than 75% of the Group’s projects being carried out on a repeat business basis.
