Work complete on stunning £6m redevelopment of landmark Bristol offices
Work has been completed on a major redevelopment project at the landmark Temple Point office building, in Redcliffe.
The £6 million scheme for Legal & General, delivered by Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, has seen the external recladding of the five-storey building, the refurbishment of 7,000 m2 of office space, upgraded lifts and services and the addition of a new double-height glazed extension housing reception and meeting areas.
Architects Stride Treglown Ltd worked with the Midas Construction team on the design and build scheme, with Jones Lang LaSalle acting as client representative working collaboratively with all the stakeholders during the year-long project.
The result is an impressive new lease of life for the Temple Point building which occupies a highly prominent position fronting Redcliffe Way, overlooking Temple Quay and Victoria Street, close to Bristol Temple Meads train station.
At the peak of activity, more than 100 people were working on site and the project was carefully phased and carried out to minimise disruption to existing building occupier Network Rail, which took the opportunity to relocate its operations from the third floor to the first floor.
Derek Quinn, Executive Director for Midas Construction, said: “As a Bristol-headquartered company we are delighted to have delivered this important and highly visible project for our client in this vibrant commercial heart of the city.
“This is the second major scheme in Bristol carried out by Midas Construction for Legal and General in the last two years and demonstrates the importance we place in developing long-term relationships founded upon excellent customer service.”
Currently more than 75 per cent of projects carried out by Midas are on a repeat business basis and Midas delivered the 740 Aztec West office development, in the city, for Legal & General in 2016. That project went on to win Best Refurbished / Recycled Workplace at the British Council of Offices Awards 2016.
Midas, whose headquarters are in Winterstoke Road, Bristol, has helped deliver a number of the city’s leading office developments over recent years, including Narrow Quay House for Standard Life Insurance, and the new ALD offices, for Stoford Developments.
