Choir brings festive cheer to St George’s site team

The Midas Construction team working on the ambitious extension project at St George’s Bristol received a festive treat thanks to a pop-up gospel performance from the Renewal Choir.

Members of the Renewal Choir gave the site team a sneak preview of their ‘Joyful Joyful Gospel Goes Festive’ performance, complete with mince pies to accompany the singing.

St George’s is relaunching in 2018 as a creative space for music and ideas, with improved facilities for audience members, artists, and venue hire guests, a new café bar and multi-purpose spaces, in addition to heritage interpretation displays in the former crypt.

The concert hall, famous for its acoustic, played host to the Renewal Choir concert on Friday December 1, the fifth time the choir has hired the music venue, just off Park Street, for its festive celebration.

Vernon Samuels, the Renewal Choir’s Chairman, commented: “It was great to be able to spread some joyful festive cheer to those who are working hard to build the new extension to this much-loved Bristol concert hall.”

Grant Millar, Midas Construction Operational Manager, said: “It was a wonderful festive pick-me-up and we’re very grateful to the choir for taking time out of the schedule to entertain the team.”
