Midas celebrate at the top of Ten Victoria Street in Bristol

Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, has this week reached the top of Ten Victoria Street in Bristol. The £4m project involves extending and refurbishing the five storey office block with rear external parking facilities at Ten Victoria Street. The extension will increase the office space available to 46,124 ft².

To celebrate, Midas and Deeley Freed today held a topping out ceremony with a little help from Roy Winters of Bristol Rugby.

Throughout the project, Midas has undertaken to help local, disadvantaged young people by joining up with Deeley Freed and The Park in Knowle West to offer young people both apprenticeships and work experience. Bristol Rugby is also actively involved with The Park and Roy is delighted to be taking part in the topping out ceremony today.

A number of Bristol companies in partnership with Deeley Freed have provided funds for a Level 2 Construction course at The Park in Knowle to assist young people who have a desire to pursue vocational training within the construction industry.

Stephen Mundy, Divisional Manager, Midas Construction, said:

"Midas is delighted to be involved in this scheme which brings together a major local client in Deeley Freed with a local contractor, benefits from the services of local designers and suppliers and assists The Park, a local charity in achieving their aims. The end result will be the release of some high quality office space in Bristol's "square mile" in the spring for local businesses."

The topping out celebration is traditionally held when the highest point of a building has been constructed. It is a celebration to thank the workers for their efforts, to honour their safe working and to wish safety for those about to complete the construction.

Iain Neary from Deeley Freed confirmed that the project had developed into a real partnership, not only in the progression of the construction scheme on programme, but also in training boys from The Park and employing them to assist in their long term development within the construction industry. Midas has offered the students an opportunity that they would never have found elsewhere, and for that, Deeley Freed and the boys are very grateful.
