Project Detail
The project comprised of a steel portal framed warehouse for Bailey of Bristol Caravans, on a constrained site with limited space. Enabling works comprised extensive ground remediation, a reduced level dig and excavations for foundations. Midas constructed the warehouse with piles, concrete strip foundations with bolt boxes, a steel portal frame, insulated cladding panels to the walls and roof, and blockwork to internal and external walls. The building features seven roller doors, glazed curtain walling, warehouse space, an office, welfare facilities and a plant room. External works comprised the laying of paving and bushes, and a feature space for the display of caravans. To manage the site’s restricted space and close proximity to the MoD, Midas negotiated the use of space on a commercial neighbour’s property for storage and parking. The team began communication with the MoD six months in advance of the project start, to ensure all plans were agreed and all parties happy before construction began. Midas liaised regularly with the neighbouring MoD property to identify the flight patterns of helicopters flying into and out of the site, and programmed works accordingly to avoid working at height during these times.
