Before work could commence on the main house, a boathouse and seawall were constructed to house the resident bats (a protected species). The coastal path was retained during construction and specialist gantry scaffold and temporary steps were installed to maintain it throughout the contract period. Natural St Issey stone and reclaimed delabole slate were utilised for the external masonry and roof and underfloor heating was installed.
