Project Details
This 133-unit student accommodation building was developed on a prominent and sought after 4,250m² site, close to the harbourside in the centre of Bristol and within easy walking distance of the University of Bristol campus. It was Prime Student Living’s first location in the south of England. The site was constrained with limited storage, local residential neighbours and buildings adjoining the site that required party wall agreements.
Demolition of a two-storey building and extraction of all unusable materials was undertaken before the subsequent construction of a Metek light gauge steel frame structure.
This steel frame, recommended by Midas, reduced the construction period by three months and met the client’s time constraints. Environmental features include a roof installed PV array and a CHP plant. Facilities include studio apartments and cluster accommodation with six or seven en-suite bedrooms sharing a kitchen, plus central common room, cinema room, laundry and cycle stores.
