As main contractor Midas assisted the client with assessing four potential re-development options, considering design, programme and cost. The project, agreed by the Cobham board, comprised the construction of a bespoke fuel pod test rig, fuel farm facilities and a 4,000m² office block (UK Headquarters), plus the renovation of a factory to provide 3,635m² of production and office facilities. The refurbishment works comprised the demolition of a first floor office, creating an area of the factory at the full building height. All M+E services were replaced. The completed facilities are served by new / adapted car parking and covered cycle stands, and surrounded by landscaped areas. Several project elements were handed over early to facilitate the client’s occupation of the buildings. A project partnering charter was signed by Midas and the client.
