Construction of a £6.5m distribution centre near Bristol for DPD is on target for completion in June 2017 its developer has said.
Commercial property specialist Stoford is developing the South Gloucestershire facility for the parcel delivery company. When complete it will include a distribution facility, offices and customer pick-up point. It is set to create more than 100 jobs.
The steel frame and roof have been completed on the 68,792 sq ft unit at Vertex Park, Emersons Green, with contractor Midas Group leading the project.
Stoford director Alex Morgan said: "It's great to see the development at Vertex Park making very good progress and we are on course to reach practical completion in June.
"DPD has built a strong delivery network right across the country and this will be further enhanced with its expansion into the South West. Vertex Park is a prime location – adjacent to the M4 motorway, it provides not only excellent transport links but also a strong recruitment pool."
Louise Ferguson of DPD added: "Vertex Park is part of a major infrastructure investment programme for DPD in 2017. Our rapid growth in recent years means that up and down the country we are expanding our operation.
"Purpose-built distribution centres such as this give us a huge advantage over our competitors. It will be a state-of-the-art facility, in a great location, with room for us to continue growing. I'm really pleased with the progress to date and plans are already well advanced for our team to get on site and start preparing for the first parcels later this year."
