Urban Village

Project: A multimillion scheme in central Swansea which is part of a five year regeneration plan.

As a contractor on the Integrate Framework Midas have been selected as the main contractor for the highly prestigious Urban Village regeneration project for Coastal Housing Group.

The scheme itself is 75 apartments built on a three storey car park based on a series of courtyards that link shops, offices, and food and drink outlets. It will significantly alter the City Centre landscape and provide much needed regeneration in an area of the city that has suffered from the effects of under investment and decay for many years.

The £25 million scheme is the centre piece of a five year regeneration plan for Swansea City centre being driven by Coastal and is based on the concept of a ‘Creative Cluster' that is designed for people involved in a wide range of creative industries such as advertising and marketing, architecture, computer and video games, crafts and the media.

The nature of the build programme has allowed Midas to partner with Coastal to deliver significant local employment benefits through a targeted recruitment and training programme as well as the involvement of local colleges and further education establishments. This project is running in parallel to a number of other refurbishment schemes that Midas working on with Coastal Housing Group in Swansea city centre.
