Tree planting marks commencement of toy distribution centre

A tree planting ceremony arranged by Midas Construction has marked the commencement of the first building on the 20 acre Hill Barton Business Park Extension on the A3052 Sidmouth Road near Exeter.

The £4.5 million, 60,000 sq ft distribution, warehouse and office facility is being built on behalf of Kandy Toys, importers of toys, pools, beach goods and gifts for the retail and wholesale sectors.

Tree planting at Hill BartonTerry Murch, managing director of Midas Development's Limited, part of the Midas Group which has a joint venture with the landowners AE Stuart & Sons, said: "The new facility with associated offices replaces a range of temporary warehousing and effectively doubles Kandy's current capacity.

"This is the first building on this new phase of the Business Park and we are currently in negotiation with a number of other business's looking for new facilities on the site.  It is in a very convenient location just minutes from Junction 30 of the M5 and close to Exeter International Airport making Hill Barton an ideal location for distribution and logistics operations."

The tree planting ceremony took place at noon on Wednesday 24th August and was be attended by David Kirkby, & Andrew West  the Managing Directors of KandyToys, Roy Stuart of AE Stuart, Terry Murch and Midas Construction Project Manager, Len Gee.

Also in attendance will be East Devon District Councils Leader Paul Diviani and Councillors Graham Brown and Graham Godbeer along with Head of Economy Kate Little and Nigel Harrison, Economic Development Manager.
