Torbay Hospital

Lawes Bridge Road, Torquay

Project: Redevelopments and refurbishments throughout the Torbay Hospital to modernise the facilities.

Works comprised of a number of redevelopments and refurbishments to the existing hospital, which was in need of significant modernisation. Examples of projects undertaken included:

  • State-of-the-art Orthopaedic Theatre
  • Breast Care Unit
  • A&E department
  • Refurbishment and modernisation of operating theatres
  • Installation of a CT Scanner
  • Extension to the existing I.C.U
  • Endoscopy suite
  • Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit
  • 2 Additional theatre recovery places
  • New Privacy and Dignity ward including 30 bays
  • New reception and administration areas

The Orthopaedic theatre was fitted out with an ultra-clean air system, which circulates the air much more frequently than in a standard theatre, blowing ultra-clean air down onto the patient and out into the theatre. This air flow is an important pre-requisite for joint replacement surgery, to minimise the risk of infection.

The Midas team worked with the Client's suppliers to ensure the seamless integration of the new equipment and scanners to ensure a smooth delivery and the earliest possible opening dates for the new facilities.
