This prestigious project in the centre of Bath involved a programme of essential work undertaken front-of-house and back-stage to conserve and update the Main House; improving current facilities whilst safeguarding the future of Bath's renowned theatre.
The foyer was re-modelled; particular emphasis was given to improve the disabled access of the theatre with the installation of a disabled access lift and ramps to all levels. The Main House was fully decorated; restored and updated, this included re-gilding the ceiling and artworks. Redundant basement areas were converted into usable public bar areas. Vital mechanical and electrical systems were updated and new air conditioning and ventilation systems installed.
The refurbishment also included repairing the roof, stonework, restoring the décor, enlarging the foyer and improving access for all customers, enhancing the bars and restaurants, replacing mechanical and electrical plant, interior and exterior lighting and replacing the stage floor.
