Midas strikes gold with three Project Managers in Awards Finals

( Last Updated: 22-10-2009 )

Three of Midas' Project Managers have been short-listed as finalists for the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year Awards.  The winners for each category will be announced in October.

The Construction Manager of the Year Awards are the construction industry's most celebrated awards evening, the 2009 awards ceremony will take place in the Great Room at the Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

It is the only industry awards that celebrate individual management achievement; they are not for projects, processes, products or design. They are for the people.

Winning a medal and particularly being named as overall Construction Manager of the Year is a major achievement.  Judging by the CIOB is exacting and is why these awards are worked for and prized above all others.

The Midas finalists are:

  • Tom Clarke from Midas Retail in Bristol

Category - New building/refurbishment projects over £5m to £7m

Project - Marks & Spencer, Leckwith Road, Cardiff.

  • Matt Sidwell from Midas Retail in Bristol

Category - New building/refurbishment projects over £2 to £5m

Project  - Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc in Horndean.

  • Justin Penhallurick from Midas Construction in Cornwall

Alan Hope, Chief Executive of Midas Group, said:

"I am delighted that three of our people are finalists in these prestigious, national awards; this is testament to the quality people that work at Midas."

This year's Awards will be the largest to date; in March the CIOB received 58% more entries than ever before and it's now been announced that they have a total 115 finalists in 12 categories.
