Midas Construction is reporting a very successful period in winning new projects.

In Plymouth, Midas Construction is working on five medical and educational projects across the city with a combined contract value in excess of £13 million.
Work has just started on the prestigious new Peninsula Dental School at Tamar Science Park in a Design & Build Contract for Resound Health, the public/private partnership established for the purpose of developing and improving healthcare facilities in Plymouth.
The three storey 41 chair school comprises training facilities and offices with external works including hard and soft landscaping and car parks. Designed by Plymouth based ADG Architects, the completed building will have ground sourced heat pumps and a ‘green' sedum roof as some of its environmentally friendly credentials.
Two other medical related Midas contracts for Resound Health are underway in Plymouth - a £4.2m contract for a new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) design and build project on Plymouth International Business Park near Derriford Hospital, and a £2.1m refurbishment of the Cumberland Centre in Devonport, a former NHS minor accident unit which is being modernised to house a range of Primary Care Trust departments.
Midas Construction's Executive Director Murdo Mace said: "As a Group, Midas has developed a medical sector expertise. We have recently seen the opening of a £1.9m doctor's surgery in St Austell and the cutting of the first turf on a similar project in Bridgwater. We are also working on a range of new projects for Torbay Primary Health Trust including building a new endoscopy unit and some surgical theatres."
Midas Construction have also undertaken two challenging refurbishment projects on behalf of the University of Plymouth with a combined value in excess of £1.5 million. Work on the University's Smeaton and Davy Buildings required extensive refurbishment to each while maintain daily access for users.
Murdo Mace added: "These public sector projects are not only important to Midas as a business. They have a considerable impact on the Plymouth economy. Our policy is always to source materials and labour as locally as possible and the size and significance of these projects injects considerable impetus into the city's economy.
"They also add to the city's infrastructure and add considerable collateral to Plymouth's growing reputation as a centre of excellence in both medicine and higher education."
