Midas Construction confident despite slow growth for construction sector

( Last Updated: 07-09-2011 )

Despite recent reports of slowing growth in the construction industry*, regional contractors Midas Construction have announced new contracts worth £20 million consolidating its position of market leader in Devon & Cornwall.

John Lewis ExeterExecutive Director Mike O'Neill said:  "As a mid-market business, we are highly competitive against our nationally focussed competitors.    We are very much the ‘local' company in Devon and Cornwall and our success is based on local knowledge and our ability to drive down costs, to innovate and deliver exceptional quality on time.

"All of our teams live here and contribute to the local economy and we work very hard to source from a local supply chain.  An increasing number of our customers in the region are of the same mind and they like the effort we put into supporting local charities and community initiatives.

"Three major projects that we have been awarded in Exeter for Land Securities, John Lewis and their subsidiary Waitrose demonstrate that these customers recognize the   significant contribution made by local companies and local procurement to the local economy."

Peninsula Dental School PlymouthOther projects recently completed by Midas Construction include Phase II of the redevelopment of Penwith College in Penzance, the Peninsula Dental School in Plymouth, the Little Harbour Hospice for Children's Hospice South West, the HellermanTyton building on Plymouth's International Medical & Technology Park and the Attas Building on Exeter Business Park, projects with a combined value of £50 million.
