Future Inns Hotel

Cardiff

Project: £10.5 million flagship hotel construction

Midas was taken on by Canadian hotel chain Future Inn to construct this flagship hotel, its first in Europe.

This £10.5 million building, overlooking Cardiff Bay, includes 198 bedrooms, a substantial number of meeting and conference rooms, as well as a bar, restaurant and health and fitness suite.

The hotel is situated in the reclaimed dock area of Cardiff and forms part of leisure complex.

Midas constructed the hotel using a concrete frame and piled foundations with steel work structures to form the towers, restaurants and escape stairs. The elevational treatment is a mixture of coloured precast concrete panels, metal rainscreen cladding, render and extensive glazing. The car park features block paving and landscaping.

Internally, the bedrooms were constructed using prefabricated finished bathroom pods, drylining to the corridors, decorative joinery panelling, and decorate to a high-standard finish throughout. Midas fitted out the bedrooms completely, including IT connections and loose furniture.

The works also included finishing the reception, restaurant and conference facilities, as well as back-of-house facilities including a full laundry.
