The construction of a new build 150 bed Future Inns Hotel providing restaurant, bar and conference facilities. The building is a seven storey structure above ground and below ground level works includes a single storey 5m deep basement for the whole of the building footprint. The structural frame from basement level to the sixth floor level is reinforced concrete providing floors, columns, walls, lift shafts, stairwells and stair flights. The top level of the building is a steel frame construction, providing larger clear spans to facilitate the conference facilities at the top of the building with external roof level balcony areas.
The project involved a complex engineering solution to facilitate the scheme, utilising Bathroom Pod Construction for each guestroom. The external envelope is predominately cladding, window and curtain walling assemblies. Various roof constructions including a sedum roof, curved standing seam and single ply membrane.
The hotel is Midas' third major contract for the Canadian based hotel chain. The scheme is part of the Bristol Alliance regeneration of Broadmead.
