First business moves into Redruth’s new industrial estate

( Last Updated: 06-08-2007 )

Camborne Joinery Ltd is the first company to move into new units on Barncoose Industrial Estate, Redruth.

The Cornish company, which produces high-quality, custom-made windows, doors and stairs, has now started production in its new premises at the £3 million Barncoose development situated alongside the Barncoose Link Road.

The new property is just one of the eleven units within the 43,000 sq ft development. Backed by £1 million of Objective One investment and private sector funding from Midas Developments, the mixture of business and industrial units form an important part of the regeneration in the area.

Bradley Gibson, director of Camborne Joinery, said: “This is a really big move for us and we are very happy to be here. The building is warm and comfortable, but even more importantly the open working space is conducive to cleanliness and speedier production. We have been able to place our machines and equipment exactly where we need them and Midas placed underground pipes for our cables and wires which makes life a lot easier. There are no pillars to have to work around and everyone within the company seems to be delighted with whole look and feel of the place.”

Camborne Joinery Ltd moved to their new home from premises at Trevu Industrial Estate in Camborne. The company has eight employees and has been in operation for 20 years, carrying out the majority of their specialist architectural projects in the South West.

Terry Murch, divisional director of Midas, said: “It’s great to see a local business moved in and making the most of the high quality premises. It’s the type of accommodation that local businesses require and on terms that modern businesses are looking for. The development is the linchpin for the continuing regeneration of the area and the first step towards a new employment hub for West Cornwall.”

Terry continued: “We now have only three units remaining at the site and have been pleased with the uptake from local businesses. We’ve worked closely with our partners to make this happen and would particularly like to thank Kerrier District Council for their support in the relocation of existing businesses.”
