As a responsible business, Midas takes its obligations to the environment seriously and has made substantial progress in improving environmental performance.
In 2006 we trained all site staff in Environmental Awareness, ensured all Safety Managers completed the IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities course, and introduced recycling facilities at all Midas offices.
In 2007/08 we achieved a 10% reduction in our waste, twice as much as the 5% we had targeted to achieve. We also achieved a recycling rate of 67% exceeding our target of 60%.
In 2008/09 we have three key targets:
1. Reduce our overall tonnage of waste by at least 5%;
2. Increase our waste recycling rate to at least 70% (thereby reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill); and
3. Decreasing our average CO2 emissions for our company vehicles by at least 5%.
